The Society for Nautical Research (South) was founded in 1962 to promote the world-wide historical study of ships, naval campaigns and other maritine-related subjects.

The University staff car park in St Thomas's Street, PO1 2EZ,
off St George's Road, is 10 minute walk to our meetings venue and is available for £2 all day.
Turn left out of the car park. At the junction turn left down the side of the Cathedral and continue past the Co-op store along Pembroke Road.

H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth leaving Portsmouth Harbour in December 2017 for more sea trials prior to commissioning on 7th December 2017 and here's the White Ensign to confirm it is now part of the fleet. On 14th October we had an excellent talk by the RN Presentation Team explaining why this, the biggest ship in the Royal Navy, was such a valuable asset for the U.K. On the 10th March this year a group of members were privileged to be given a guided tour of this carrier. In December 2019 Prince of Wales - the ship - joined QE in Portsmouth, The same month Prince of Wales - the person - arrived to commission the ship.
